Large Print Book Collection – For those who have difficulty reading standard sized print books, the library maintains and updates a collection of large print books, both fiction and non-fiction. In addition, you may request copies of other books (standard and large print) delivered to the Linwood Library at no cost through Interlibrary Loan.
Electronic Resources – The library offers downloadable books, audiobooks, magazines, music, movies and television series through Libby and Hoopla. Anyone with a library card can make use of these services free of charge, allowing patrons access to a variety of information and entertainment without having to leave home. Library staff members are trained on how to set up new accounts and download materials and are available during library hours to assist patrons who are new to these resources or who need a refresher on how to use them.
We value inclusion and access for all participants and are pleased to provide reasonable accommodations for all events and activities.
If you need specific accommodations, such as sign language interpretation, for any of our events or activities, whether on-site or online, please get in touch with us at 609-926-7991 or email at linwoodlibrary@linwoodlibrary.com.
The library is committed to ensuring the accessibility of all its documents and promotional materials. This effort encompasses various types of content, including flyers, brochures, handouts, social media posts, and newsletters. Our goal is to meet or exceed the minimum accessibility requirements outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidance.
Accessibility considerations go beyond just complying with legal standards; they reflect our commitment to providing equitable access to information for all members of our community, including those with disabilities.
- Readability: Prioritize readability by carefully selecting fonts, font sizes, colors, and hues. This includes making sure that content is clear and legible for everyone, regardless of their visual abilities.
- Universal Design: Embrace the principles of universal design to create materials that are usable by the widest possible audience. This means our materials are designed to be inclusive by default.
- Text Alternatives/Readable Text: Ensure that screen readers and other assistive technologies can use our documents, online promotional materials, and social media.
By taking these steps, we aim to make our information and resources accessible to everyone, promoting a more inclusive and diverse library experience. If you have specific accessibility-related concerns or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Your input is invaluable in our ongoing efforts to enhance accessibility.
The Linwood Public Library is committed to making its website accessible to all members of the public, including individuals with disabilities.
We base our website accessibility standards on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1, Level AA success criteria. Additionally, we continually work to maintain, assess, and enhance the usability and accessibility of our website. This includes seeking advice from accessibility experts, training our team members who create and update content, and regularly testing our website for accessibility compliance.
Steps We’ve Taken So Far:
- Website Structure: We have meticulously structured our website to ensure logical organization and intuitive navigation. Information is categorized and labeled clearly for ease of understanding.
- Keyboard Navigation: Our website is fully operable using only a keyboard, allowing users with mobility impairments to navigate seamlessly through all pages and interactive elements.
- Responsive Design: We have implemented a responsive design approach, ensuring that our website adapts and functions effectively across a wide range of devices and screen sizes.
- Consistent Layout: Maintaining a consistent layout throughout the website enhances predictability and facilitates efficient navigation for all users.
- Streamlined Content: We’ve optimized content presentation by reducing page count and consolidating information to prevent content overload.
- Voice Command Compatibility: Our website is designed to be compatible with voice commands, offering an accessible browsing experience for users who rely on voice control technology.
Known Limitations
1. Our website may include widgets and links to third-party websites. It’s important to note that we do not control the ongoing accessibility of these widgets and websites.
2. Some older PDF documents on our website may not be accessible. We are working to make these documents accessible; however, this process may take some time.
Challenges and Future Improvements:
Despite our ongoing efforts, it’s important to acknowledge that maintaining accessibility may face challenges, particularly due to administrative oversight. While we strive to uphold accessibility standards, adjustments made by administrators could impact the website’s accessibility at any time.
To address this, we are implementing regular accessibility audits and training sessions for administrators. By fostering awareness and providing resources, we aim to minimize the risk of unintentional accessibility issues arising from administrative changes. If you encounter any accessibility barriers or have suggestions for improvement, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at linwoodlibrary@linwoodlibrary.com.
