Computer Use and Policy
The Linwood Public Library has free computers and wireless internet access for patrons and public use. All users must follow the guidelines as stated below. Every user is responsible for their actions while on the library computers.
- Patrons must sign name, date, and time in and out on the computer log found at the circulation desk.
- One person is permitted on the computer at a time, unless assisting the user.
- Do not turn off computers. Do not attempt to restart computers. Please ask for assistance if needed.
- No food or drink is allowed at the computer station.
- All requests for the use of the computer are on a first-come, first-serve basis. The library does not take reservations.
- Patrons are limited to 30 minutes per session if someone is waiting. The time period is extended to two hours if no one is waiting.
- Computers will be turned off 15 minutes before closing for the day. You will have a 15 minute warning prior to the closing of the library.
- If a dispute arises, the library staff reserves the right to terminate or suspend patron’s privileges for the day.
- The staff of the library is not required to assist the patron in the use of the computer.
- The library does not take responsibility or guarantee the compatibility of the operating systems or word processing between home, school, and library.
- Printing is $0.15 per page, $0.25 double-sided. The printer is located behind the circulation desk.
- Personal disks and software may not be used in our machines.
- Email accounts are not provided by the library. You must set up your own account and access them individually.
- Not all sources on the internet are reliable. Please validate all information.
- Wireless internet is available and wireless users are welcome. You may plug in your computer if necessary.
- Security has been installed on our computers.
- The library cannot be responsible for identity theft.
- Parents, guardians, and caregivers are responsible for their child on the computer.
- You may not use any library workstation for illegal or criminal purposes.
- It is the individual’s responsibility to demonstrate good judgment, respect for others, and appropriate conduct while using our computers. The library staff has the right to terminate an internet session at any time if inappropriate behavior is demonstrated.
Illegal acts involving library resources may be subject to prosecution by local, state, or federal officials.
